FAQs

Age and Ability All Young Guns Clinics are designed for children who are in primary school. No experience is needed, and ability is irrelevant at our events. Effort, skill development, teamwork and participation are the core focus areas at Young Guns. When a parent makes the decision to send their child to Young Guns, they should know that duty of care is our number one priority.

Will my child be safe? Absolutely! Young Guns is owned an operated by an experience Primary School teacher with an extensive background in sports coaching. Your child’s safety is our primary concern and we throw every resource available to make our venues safe, secure and rewarding for all children.

Does my child have to be sporty? No! At Young Guns, we encourage kids of all abilities to get involved and enjoy an active school holiday program which tailors activities to meet the skill level of all participants.

What do I pack for my child? Pack each day as if it is any other school day. This includes a hat, water bottle, lunch (no nuts please), and sunscreen - particularly if your child is sensitive to the sunscreen that we provide. Please do not pack valuables including phones and iPad’s etc. Our focus is to get children away from screens over the school holidays.

What if it rains? If we have rain, we will proceed as usual. Activities will be moved indoors and activities modified to suit the weather conditions.

What if my child has a medical condition, dietary requirements, or a disability? Your child is more than welcome to attend. We are an inclusive sports program. Please when filling out the registration form, detail any information that will help us throughout the day in ensuring your child has the greatest chance for success. Please note that although we will make all reasonable accommodations for children, we may / may not have the resources to support certain needs. If that is the case, we will have a ‘try it out day’ and determine whether Young Guns is an appropriate program for your child.

What sports will my child do? At Young Guns, we offer a range of sports including; Touch Football, Soccer, Basketball, Dodgeball, Evasion Games, Cricket, as well as games that we have made up ourselves or have modified to suit the group. Each session involves a skill building focus for that particular sport which is then followed up with a game. We also begin each day with a Fitness Challenge which often involves functional movements and running to get the children’s steps up!

Will someone reapply sunscreen for my child? At Young Guns, we promote sun safety and throughout the event we will give children constant reminders about HATS, SUNSCREEN & SPORTS DRINK BOTTLES. Due to legal reasons we cannot actually apply the sunscreen for your child but we definitely have sunscreen available at all of our events and provide children with plenty of reminders.
